Schonbek Extends the Hugely Successful MILANO Line
When Schonbek introduced Milano in January 2008, its rococo styling and over-the-top grandeur made an immediate sensation. Now, there’s even more to get excited about, with a line extension of 17 new pieces that offer exceptional beauty and hand-crafted quality for all parts of the home. “Imported chandeliers frequently combine a variety of off-the-shelf components, creating an unharmonious whole,” points out Andrew Schuyler, design manager at Schonbek. “However, we have designed proprietary castings for each part and worked with the finest Italian craftsmen on tooling so that each Milano is a true work of art.” New Milano lights include semi-flush ceiling fixtures and three sizes of mini pendants, as well as a new style of chandelier in a variety of sizes up to an eye-popping 19 lights. This line extension makes Milano appropriate in the broadest range of applications from dramatic 2-story foyers, through grand dining halls, and into guest baths. “The new chandeliers continue our trademark highly intricate patterns incised over the entire cast metal structure,” notes Schuyler. “But they also incorporate a crystal bowl at the bottom of the central column. We’ve essentially combined a flush mount ceiling fixture with a traditional chandelier to offer more facets, more sparkle, and more light.” The crystal bowls are cut by hand at a leading Italian glassmaker, one of the finest in the world. These original, two-sided facets, designed exclusively by Schonbek, create a stunning optical phenomenon that conceals the bulbs and creates an enormous amount of shimmering light. “All of these additions to the Milano line are ideal for residential settings that demand the drama you’d expect from an ornate chandelier, with the practical effect of a bigger lighting impact,” notes Schuyler. Since its 1870 founding in Bohemia, Schonbek has put old-world, hand-built craftsmanship, sophisticated design, innovative engineering, and the latest manufacturing technology into every crystal chandelier they make. In casinos and palaces, hotel lobbies and places of worship, bathrooms, living rooms, kitchens and private quarters, nothing dazzles quite like a Schonbek. Schonbek. Bringing space to life with crystal and light.
