Meyda Custom Lighting Expands Manufacturing Facilities

Yorkville, NY—Meyda Custom Lighting CEO Robert Cohen has announced that the company has expanded the manufacturing facilities at its corporate headquarters in Yorkville, New York. Meyda Custom Lighting is a Meyda Tiffany company, America's leading manufacturer and designer of custom lighting solutions and decorative accessories.

“As prices from suppliers in China continue to soar,” explains Mr. Cohen, “Demand for Made in the USA lighting products continues to increase.  We have expanded the production space to better serve our customers.  From a grand chandelier for a hotel lobby or a residential foyer, to an expansive fixture in a shopping mall, to producing 4,000 wall sconces for a hotel,” explained Mr. Cohen, “Meyda can fulfill any project.”

“Expanding our manufacturing operation will help us improve our service with a more efficient operation that offers shorter lead times on our custom lighting fixtures,” added Mr. Cohen.  “In this uncertain economy, many distributors and specifiers want to buy American, and this expansion will fulfill that need.”

"We will host all production operations in one centralized area inside our manufacturing facilities,” continued Mr. Cohen. “Our fabricators use plasma cutters and other state of the art equipment to create custom lighting and accessories. Meyda artisans work with a wide variety of steel, iron, aluminum, bronze, brass and copper, textiles, acrylics and wood while employing an array of craftsmanship techniques including forging, welding, forming, plasma and laser cutting, soldering, vacuum forming and engraving."

Meyda fixtures are finished with a broad range of custom textures and colors achieved by employing gilding, hand painting, power coating and electroplating. Meyda craftspersons work with a broad variety of lighting diffusers includes stained glass Tiffanys, mica, fabric, fused glass, sand-carved glass, glass-blowing and acrylic. Energy efficient lamping solutions, as well as conventional light sources, are fitted into the fixtures and include LEDs, compact fluorescents, metal halide, incandescents and more.

Meyda Custom Lighting is a vertically integrated manufacturing company with in-house design and production facilities to meet all lighting needs of consumers, architects, designers, builders and contractors, and distributors. The company's diverse group of designers and engineers create custom fixtures, lamps, windows or accessories to meet the exact specifications for any project, whether the job is small or large, commercial or residential.

Meyda Custom Lighting is a Meyda Tiffany Company, the nation's leading manufacturer and designer of custom, Tiffany lamps and decorative lighting. Although founded in 1974, the firm's roots actually date back to the early 1900s, supplying the Master Louis Comfort Tiffany and his Tiffany Studios with lighting products, and creating the original Coca-Cola stained glass lamps and chandeliers. With years of designing and manufacturing expertise, Meyda Custom Lighting has developed innovations, technologies and value engineering that transcend architectural lighting for any budget or economy, in today's commercial and residential markets.
