The Finnish aviation obstacle light producer Obelux Ltd has developed the most powerful High Intensity (HI) flashing white LED light of all time. The world’s first high intensity LED, delivering outstanding 600 000 candelas, has been designed to replace old Xenon technology on over 150 meter tall buildings and masts.
Thanks to the state-of-the-art technology the new High Intensity aviation light provides over 10 years of reliable life, when the traditional Xenon aviation lighting systems required almost yearly maintenance
The new, groundbreaking high intensity LED light has the effective power of 200 000 candelas and it delivers total of 120 000 lumens. To put things in perspective, the normal luminous intensity of traditional red aviation obstacle lights in small masts is only 10 candelas.
Aviation obstacle lights are subject to extreme weather conditions, for which reason specific attention must be paid on the structure of the lights and the components used in them. Also technical aspects relating to their installation must be taken into consideration already when designing the lamp.
– The new HI aviation obstacle LED light denotes a huge leap forward both in operational reliability and ease of maintenance, tells Obelux Oy CEO Vesa Laakso.
